University Hospitals Bristol NHS Trust were in the development stage of a £120 million capital development across their nine hospitals in Bristol. The Trust hoped to raise at least £10 million of this target through its supporting charities, which include three, major local and national charities.
Concerned with the possibility of the charities competing against each other the Trust commissioned a feasibility study to look at how the charities were perceived locally and to assess the potential of collaboration or shared working in support of the campaign
Client’s feedback
The Trust needed an independent and experienced consultant to undertake a sensitive piece of work on our behalf. Valentine did an excellent job. He went about the study in a thoroughly professional manner and produced a report that informed the executive across a range of decisions with regard to our charity fundraising potential.
Valentine was one of two fundraising advisors we commissioned to help develop our capital appeal fundraising strategy to support a successful £1.4 million heritage lottery bid, draft six-figure bids to major grant making trusts and foundations and to manage and steer our capital appeal fundraising committee. His experience of capital appeals was extremely useful as was his local knowledge and good relationships with a number of key local supporters.
